Attention to detail

“Certain are the blessings growing out of your good actions” Budha.

Two weeks of painting, I haven’t skipped a day, I promise!  I have never made such a commitment and stuck to it.  I always find myself making excuses on why I cannot complete a task.  For the first time in my life, I am following through.  What I have learned through this process is that when you do anything (good or bad) for a long period of time, it becomes a habit you just cannot break. Painting has become a natural part of my day, I feel like something is missing when I don’t do it.  It has become a routine for me, like my morning meditations and yoga.   Painting has also helped me notice the details in everyday life a little more. I feel that the universe is always showing us signs, either from people we surround ourselves with or just from being out and about.  It’s up to us to pay attention to the details life has to offer.

I painted Elizabeth Taylor because I happened to take my kids to Hollywood one day to a museum called Ripley’s Believe It or Not.   Please go if you are ever in town! I saw the most amazing art work there.  An artist did a piece on Liz Taylor made from recycled junk mail, another made out of stamps.  There was a piece of Marilyn Monroe done in candy and Jimmy Hendrix out of guitar picks.  It was all so stunning to look at.  I was so inspired when I came home.  Deep down, I felt there was a reason we went there.

When Elizabeth Taylor passed away, I kept a People magazine with her picture on it.  I went through my stack of magazines and found it…that was it!  I love the colors I used (acrylics/mixed media) and I’m not afraid to use them all!  Her eyes were these beautiful emerald gems and that is the color I use the most.  I love her elegance and grace and I am always so intrigued by that time period and style.  This is my modern take on it all.  I only did one painting but I took two pictures, one with flash and one without.  I couldn’t choose which to post so I included both.

What are you afraid of committing to?  How can you challenge yourself today and take your life to the next level?

I am on day 9 of my meditation with Deepak Chopra.  I highly recommend it, it has changed my life in so many positive ways.  It has been proven that meditation has an effect on your genes…and so many other things.  Just go to chopracentermeditation.com, its a 21 day meditation, for FREE!!
